If you find yourself being kicked out of the course mysteriously, or the course is performing slowly, most likely there is a connection error.
If you are being kicked out, the first thing to do is make sure that "call waiting" is turned off on your modem line. See Below.
AOL periodically asks you if you are "still there" and if you fail to respond promptly, they will boot you out of the system. Be sure and watch for these messages, especially if you're using a 3rd party web browser, and not the one build into AOL.
If you believe that you are having some other form of network problem, please contact us.
Turning Off Call Waiting
We strongly recommend that you disable call waiting. Otherwise, incoming calls could interrupt your modem connection and force you to retake a section of the course.
Windows Users
- Click the "Start" button
- From the Settings menu choose "Control Panel"
- Double click on the "Modems" icon
- Click the "Dialing Properties" button
- Check the "This location has call waiting" or "To Disable Call Waiting" box and enter the appropriate command (this depends on your telephone service, most frequently it is *70)
- Press the "OK" button to apply the changes and close the dialog boxes
Windows Users with AOL
- After starting AOL click the "Setup" button on the "Welcome" dialog box.
- Choose your location and press the "Edit Location" button
- Check the "Use the following command for disable call waiting" box and enter command (this depends on your telephone service, most frequently the prefix is *70)
- Press the "Save" button to apply the changes
Macintosh Users
- Open your internet dialer
- Type *70, in front of your local access number
